The most commercially successful Roxy Music album and also their last, Avalon, was originally issued in , charting at No. 1 and lingering on the UK album charts for over a year, with three singles including the Top 5 "More Than This." The album art features Ferry's .

Released in May and recorded in Nassau, Bahamas the album reached #1 in the UK and peaked at #53 in the US where the sleeper hit became the band's only platinum selling album in the states. It is widely considered one of their finest albums and filled with lush, elegant soundscapes 5/5(1).

Avalon found Roxy Music smoothing out their arty, angular edges with lush orchestration and graceful arrangements. This album would prove to be the band's last studio effort, and, as fate would have it, their most popular release thanks to the singles "More Than This" and "Take A Chance With Me.
